What we do
Patients, families and staff have many common goals
and can work together to achieve them with dramatic
results. The Patient and Family Advisory Council
advises on care and the patient and family experience
by helping with:
-
Recommendations and concerns expressed by
patients, family members and visitors
-
Promoting compassionate care
-
Educational opportunities that influence the
development of nurses, medical students,
managers, executive leadership and new
employees
-
Policy review
How we do it
The Council meets the third Monday every other
month at St. Joseph’s Hospital. During the two-hour
meetings, activities may include:
-
Providing input about programs, service or
facilities
-
Receiving updates about input we provided during
policy development
-
Addressing patient, family and staff concerns
-
Education reviews of key clinical care issues
In addition to meetings, council members are
welcome to be involved at St. Joseph’s in other ways.
Additional activities may include:
-
Reviewing patient education materials
-
Recounting your health care experience to new
employees or the leadership team to provide a
patient and family point of view
-
Writing for the St. Joseph’s Exchange
-
Becoming a volunteer at St. Joseph’s
